Cancer Council SA Relay for Life - Murray Bridge, South Australia

Relay 2014 - Date TBC @ Sturt Reserve, Murray Bridge

One person from each team is the Team Captain and co-ordinates and encourages the team members and fundraising activities. Team members can be friends, family, work colleagues, survivors, patients… there are no restrictions.

Each team member is encouraged to raise $100 before the big weekend at the end of November.

Teams gather mid-morning on the Saturday and set up a campsite. Some teams reflect their team name or theme by dressing up, having team hats and/or in their camp décor.

There is an opening ceremony beginning with a ‘Survivors and Carers Walk’. Each team then keeps at least one member walking (or running) laps of the oval throughout the day and night until the closing ceremony on the Sunday morning. People living with cancer live with it 24 hours/day regardless of the weather or how they feel. At Relay, we keep walking regardless of the weather or how we feel but just for 1 day. A highlight of Saturday night is the Candlelight Ceremony.
